The City of Port Phillip’s "Hot Loads" initiative is an active public awareness campaign to prevent dangerous garbage truck and recycling facility fires caused by improperly discarded batteries and vapes. When crushed, these items can ignite inside trucks, forcing drivers to dump blazing "hot loads" onto the street. 

The campaign urges residents and visitors to never put batteries or vapes in kerbside bins.
