Liora Caplan is a communications specialist and multidisciplinary designer whose practice is grounded in the belief that communication design should serve a purpose beyond aesthetics. Thinking in line, shape and colour, she is driven by socially conscious initiatives and the role design can play in shaping meaningful, accessible, and positive outcomes for community.

With over two decades of experience across marketing, graphic design, and strategic communications, Liora’s background spans creative agencies as well as in-house corporate and local government environments. Across these contexts, she has developed and delivered end-to-end communication solutions for complex, high-visibility projects, balancing strategic thinking with strong visual execution.

A key area of Liora’s expertise is local government communications design, where she has worked extensively on public-facing campaigns, place-making initiatives, and civic engagement programs. In this capacity, she has led and collaborated on projects that required the integration of strategic messaging, community insight, and creative direction—delivering outcomes that increased visitation, strengthened community connection, and supported local economic activity.

As a collage artist, Liora works with analog techniques to re-contextualise and appropriate existing materials. Drawing from carefully curated source material, she constructs layered compositions that are raw, heavy, confessional, and fragmented. Her process is intentional and at times confrontational, resulting in emotionally textured narratives that explore memory, meaning, and disruption through visual form.

Liora is currently creating a series of poetry books, where collage and text converge to form intimate, reflective works that sit between visual art and written storytelling.

Across both her commercial and artistic practice, Liora is interested in how design, language, and image can work together to create connection—whether at the scale of public communication or in the quieter space of book-based, tactile storytelling.
